Salt and Light Prayer Room

Salt and Light Prayer Room

Louann Buhlinger

The new Salt and Light Prayer Room at First Church has been created for those who would like to take a moment to pray for those who are far from the Father. Reverend James Estes and Laurel Baird created the room with the thought that we often pray for those who are sick or experiencing misfortune, but forget to pray for those who are lost or in a place of spiritual deficit.

“Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.”
– Colossians 4:5-6

The Prayer Room is located in room 204, east of the Chapel, and is open during normal business hours Monday through Friday and on Sunday’s before and after Sunday School. Salt and Light instructions are on the walls of the room as you enter. Those who pray are asked to write the names of people they are praying for and pray for them while holding the names in their hands. Afterwards, the names are pinned to a board in the room.

“Our hope is that Church members feel encouraged to come and pray for the prodigal children, the hearts that have turned from God and those that don’t yet know the love of the Father,” said Estes.
