Life on the Vine podcast series
Life on the Vine with Jackson and Hutch – a new podcast series created by Jackson Seibert and Dan Hutchinson, has been a long time coming. The concept and desire for a podcast was merely a, “One day I would like to try that,” in the back of Rev. Dan Hutchinson’s mind. We had just finished a meeting and Dan was rattling off all the ideas and hopes he had for ministry including the things he would like to do but could never find the time for. “I would really like to do a podcast. I think that would be pretty cool.” The words came out as if he already knew that it would never happen, but you could hear the spark of life that happens when you start to create something new. “What do you think? Would you ever want to do one?”
I was in! I had no idea what I was doing, and still don’t, but I was ready! Then Dan left for sabbatical. Our momentum halted before we ever got going. That was when I realized I didn’t need the same passion as Dan, I could just be the sound guy. So I did some research on the internet, purchased some equipment, watched some videos on YouTube and we were ready to record.
Upon Dan’s return, we quickly realized we needed a direction. What was our goal? Who were we speaking to? We wanted to talk about anything and everything, but that wasn’t going to work. Naturally, we narrowed it down to the incredibly slim topic of Christian living. We also needed a name. We tossed out some good ones and some bad ones. In the end we decided to go to Jesus for inspiration and finally settled on “Life on the Vine with Jackson and Hutch.”
John 15 is the perfect image of what we are trying to speak to in this podcast. We aren’t talking about life in general, but life tied into Jesus. We are excited to explore all the ins and outs of living a life that is intimately connected to Jesus.
