Helping Hand Ministry

Update: FUNDS NEEDED

Between January 1 and July 31, 2020 Helping Hand Ministry has spent $231,701 helping 2,998 families facing financial crisis and strain. In July alone, HHM gave $83,535 to keep 117 families in their homes, which represents more than a 10% increase in spending from the same time last year. When the moratorium on evictions expires many Tulsa County residents will be in imminent danger of becoming homeless. Helping Hand Ministry needs your help to keep serving Tulsans as our community suffers from the impacts of COVID-19. Please consider donating online or by mailing a check to the Church with the memo line "HH COVID Donation."

Helping Hands was launched by First Church more than 30 years ago and is a 100 percent volunteer-based nonprofit offering short-term assistance to Tulsans in need.

The Helping Hand Assistance Ministry is taking calls for appointments starting again on October 26, 2020. Call Monday or Tuesday between 12:30 and 2:30 at 918-582-1356* and an advisor will help you make an appointment. They will ask for a photo ID, social security number and rent notice/bill in order to help you. Those documents can be sent to helpinghands@firstchurchtulsa.org.

*if they are having issues with their phones, it's because they are busy, please keep trying or reach out via email to set up an appointment.

Restore Hope is another great community resource, and anyone seeking assistance should look into what they offer. You can find their information and contact them here: https://www.restorehope.org/get-help/

211 is also a great place to start when seeking support, as they can help you find support specific to your situation.

The Helping Hand Food Distribution Ministry will now operate Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to noon at the Helping Hand Offices in the Bernsen Community Life Center at 700 S. Boston Avenue. Those seeking food are now invited to park and go into the offices where a volunteer will assist them. For information, call the First Church office at 918-584-4701 or 211.
