Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturday by appointment with docent (call first); Sunday 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The Bible is reported to be the biggest bestseller of all time and its history is fascinating to study. As God's Spirit breathed on the authors of the Bible, they recorded the messages with whatever resources were available at the time including clay, tablets of stone, ink and papyrus, vellum, parchment, leather and metals.

The First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa houses 40 historic Bibles maintained by the History and Archives Committee. The exhibition will be presented in four stages including:

October 27, 2019 - January 31, 2020, featuring:

  • The She Bible published in 1613
  • The Apollo Bible carried by Astronaut Edgar Mitchell to the moon
  • The Four Holy Gospels illustrated by artist Makoto Fujimura

February 26 - April 12, 2020, featuring:

  • The Holy Bible noted for its black and white engravings
  • The John Brown Bible featuring highly finished steel engravings
  • The Life of Our Lord Jesus Chris with 365 compositions and drawings by French painter J. James Tissot

May 30 - August 29, 2020, featuring:

  • Native American language Bibles

September 13 - November 13, 2020, featuring:

  • The St. John Bible which is handwritten by the members of a Benedictine abbey over seven years
  • The Message which is a contemporary American English language translation
  • The Glasgow Scottish Bible published in 1753
